Hello, I’m Jerry Shannon. I’m a News Producer living in Macon, Georgia. I am a fan of photography, travel, and technology. I’m also interested in entrepreneurship and writing.

Right now, I am the Digital News Operations Specialist at 41NBC in Macon, Georgia. I am also receiving my Master’s degree in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University.

I graduated from the University of West Georgia in May of 2009. I worked several odd jobs during and after college, before I landed my first job in television. I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a Teacher in New York City. I had the opportunity to help 6th grade students explore potential career opportunities through an apprenticeship program.

In the fall of 2010, I started working at 41NBC as a Production Assistant. I started training to produce within my first few weeks there. I loved everything about putting a newscast together. Within 6 months, I was promoted as Producer of the morning show called Daybreak. After 3 years, I decided that it was time to explore news in other places. In 2013, I took a position as a Producer for Local 15 in Mobile, Alabama and as a Producer for WHAS 11 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The title of my website reflects what I think of the work that people are doing in the community. I take pride in highlighting those people who are taking the time to bring people together through a common initiative. In addition to doing that work, you’ll also find me traveling with my husband Akeem, and playing with my nieces and nephews (there are too many to name!).
