Jessana DeAngelis
I was introduced to music at a very early age, getting my very first album (yes, album!) at the age of 5. I was constantly exposed to a large array of music comprised from my 7 older siblings different tastes in music...everything from Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac to Quiet Riot, The Clash, Joe Satriani and Van Halen.
By the time I attended my first concert at the age of 14 (Aerosmith), I was already a music junkie. However, I never considered making music my business until I joined the Melbourne Art Festival in 2008 as part of the Entertainment Committee. The committee is responsible for booking, scheduling, and managing the performers for the weekend of the festival each year. After booking and working with John Waite and his band in April 2010, I decided to join Full Sail University and obtain my BS in Entertainment Business.
Every year that I am involved with the art festival, and the process of finding and booking the talented musicians that perform on our stage, I fall more in love with the process involved in putting together such a large, successful event. By getting my degree in Entertainment Business, I am able turn my passion for this volunteer position into a career I can love doing each and every day. As an event planner and organizer, I am able to put my skills and experience gained over the last 6 years in both the Melbourne Art Festival and the Melbourne Main Street Art Festival to good use.
