Applications are just a beginning.
After years of advising at Princeton University and beyond, I have read a LOT of personal statements. I have held a lot of hands. Preparing for college or medical school can feel like a total grind. But take a deep breath. Don't worry so much. Make a conscious decision to approach your education with calm, balance, and even a little bit of humor.
My services complement the support you are getting from your high school's (probably super busy!) college counseling office. If you are a college student considering medical school, I augment the resources available on your campus. Wherever you are in your education, I can help you give it your best shot. Prepare to thrive. What more can anyone ask? What else would you want for yourself?
I've been honored to support incredible students, some who have followed non-traditional paths; juggled athletics and academics; and who have overcome personal challenges along the way. Some of my students have been the first in their families to go to college, or medical school. Some have felt stress about going to a particular school, especially when someone else in the family did. THAT can be tricky, too. No matter what, you don't have to be perfect. You just have to be real.
What I know:
Myth versus reality when it comes to college and med school admission processes
How to write a memorable personal statement (as well as a not-so-memorable one)
What it takes to achieve excellence and balance as an applicant and student
Via email and skype, my services to students and their parents include:
*Clarifying goals and direction
*Making meaningful decisions about academics and extracurriculars
*Preparing an effective timeline for the application process
*Refining personal statements and maximizing interviews
I meet you where you are. On the way to where you're going. You can thrive. I can help.
