Jesse Robbins
Founder and Investor in San Francisco, California
I invest early in AI developer tools and infrastructure. I focus on backing founders building the tools and platforms developers rely on, turning startups into industry operating systems. I founded Chef, the infrastructure automation company, and helped start the DevOps movement. At Amazon, I created modern Incident Management, and what we now call Site Reliability Engineering and Chaos Engineering.
At a General Partner at Heavybit I've been privileged to be an investor, advisor, and board member with many of our portfolio companies including Sanity, LaunchDarkly, PagerDuty, Blockdaemon, CircleCI, and Tailscale. Prior to Heavybit, I founded Chef, the pioneer in Cloud Infrastructure Automation, and helped establish the DevOps movement which reshaped operational practices across the tech industry. Before Chef, I served as Amazon’s “Master of Disaster,” responsible for the availability of every property bearing the Amazon brand.
