Jessica Ayres

I am a student at Kansas State University studying Hospitality Management with an emphasis in event planning and a business minor. How I came to be a hospitality major was not an easy or quick process. I came in freshman year as an architect student. I was so excited to have been accepted into the design school and had always wanted to be an architect. After a year of stress and confusion, I decided that being an architect was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I was back to square one. One thing I knew was that I was passionate about working at camp. It combines people, events, and creating experiences- all things I love. That's what led me into the hospitality industry. I hope that through this education, I will be able to help facilitate and create experiences for individuals and groups that will provide a lasting impact on their lives.

Outside of making hard life decisions, I enjoy climbing, reading, baking, exploring, traveling, and just being outside and immersed in the world around us. The world is full of so many different adventures and cultures and I long to experience them, while meeting new people along the way.

The Academic and Career Information Center at K-State is a community of people who want to connect with students and provide them with resources to help make figuring out life a little easier. That is a community of people that I get to be a part of. I have the opportunity to help students find their niche here at K-State and in life. I find so much joy in being able to help someone in need, whatever that need may be. If you're struggling with a decision regarding your major, not sure what jobs you can get after you graduate, or you just need a friend, come find someone in ACIC. This office is full of people who care about YOU and want to help you succeed and be happy.
