Jessica Cheung
Born in Ottawa, Ms. Cheung made her professional debut in 2005 with Vancouver Opera as the title role in their commissioned opera, Naomi’s Road. Her career is growing steadily with performances across North America and in Hong Kong. Her recent appearances include Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Julietteand Violetta in Verdi'sLa Traviatawith Musica Viva in Hong Kong. In concert, she was a soloist with the Hong Kong Bach Choir in Honegger’sLe Roi Davidand in Fauré’sRequiem. Meanwhile, in North America, Ms. Cheung performed the ingenue, Mabel, in Gilbert & Sullivan’sPirates of Penzancewith the Toronto Operetta Theatre and then portrayed the Queen of the Night inDie Zauberflötewith Maritime Concert Opera in Nova Scotia. These performances were received with critical acclaim, highlighting her vocal acrobatics and her captivating stage presence. Other leading roles include Morgana (Alcina), Nanetta (Falstaff), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and the cover for Gilda (Rigoletto). Ms. Cheung is a graduate of The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory and the University of British Columbia.
