Jessica Hunsinger
I am a 26 year young individual, intending to be true to myself and those around me. I strive to bring goodness to the world through donating my time and efforts to those in need and creating things of beauty.
I am always in search of new endeavours that allow me to understand and experience the world in interesting new ways. At 16, I studied a year abroad in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. I learned to be self sufficient, courageous, true to myself and grateful to those who help me along my journey. Also, I am fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and I can speak and understand conversational Spanish.
My educational background is in Cultural Anthropology at Georgia State University. During my college career I grew interested in Latin American and Luso-Brazilian studies. I conducted several field studies in the Brazilian-American culture of the North Metro Area of Atlanta. These studies included topics of religion, health care, and education.
Since college, I have worked in the service industry and medical business offices. I found my knowledge of different cultures, their understanding of health systems, and my language abilities have assisted me in being successful with multicultural patients and the medical practice I have worked for. I intend to acquire my CPT certification soon in order to widen my knowledge of the industry.
I have recently relocated to the Augusta, GA area - in which I have found it very difficult to find a position despite that it is one of the more renowned medical metropolises of the South Eastern United States. Until I am able to secure a position, I intend to volunteer wherever possible. I am scheduled to be a volunteer for Ronald McDonald Charities House (a non-profit that houses families whose children are in the area for medical treatment) by the end of September 2012.
I also make jewelry and other arts and crafts on the side. I will be traveling to artists markets this fall and marketing my products online soon!
