Jessica Roemischer
Berkshires, MA USA
Jessica Roemischer is an award-winning pianist who performs throughout the United States and internationally. In a unique combination of inspired piano music, spoken word and collaborative creativity, Jessica dissolves the boundary between performer and audience. Greg Thomas of the New York Daily News calls Jessica's unusual events, "a musical meditation, a tapestry of sound textures that evokes peace because it comes from love." Governor Deval Patrick has said, "Jessica makes so much possible through her music, and it's clearly giving her so much in return!" (YouTube channel)
For her performances, Jessica will share stories and read from her new book, In Duet with God – The Story of a Lifelong Friendship—the account of her spiritual journey, inspired by a remarkable woman. Frances Hesselbein, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and one of the United States' greatest leaders, says that "In reading Jessica Roemischer's book, her wisdom, faith and love become part of your own life and the door she opens is a gift you will cherish always."
Jessica's unique use of piano duet improvisationfurther expands the genre. Over the course of thirty-five years, she's developed an approach to duet that frees the human spirit in people from six months to ninety-five years of age, including those with disabilities such as Down syndrome and autism. Jessica will often invite a volunteer from the audience to improvise with her at the keyboard. Whether child or adult, seasoned musician or completely inexperienced, music of striking originality is created. Everyone gains a sense of new-found joy and possibility. Jessica Roemischer's Duet Paradigm(R) led to a 2012 CNN Heroes Award nomination and has been supported by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Caroline and James Taylor.(Bio here)
