Hi there! I’m Jessica Tran and I am an aspiring entrepreneur. I am a first year student studying at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Industries (specializing in Media Business and Graphic Communications Management).

I am a food enthusiast, music lover, and enjoy travelling. The past summer I had the privilege of visiting the Dominican Republic. My next adventure will take place across Asia in the summer of 2018. I love immersing into new cultures and learning about their histories, foods and cultural practices, as well meeting and sharing my experiences with new people.

In 2016, I served as a delegate representing Wilfrid Laurier University at the Queen’s Women in Leadership Conference. As of 2018, my advocacy for more women in leadership roles continues as I attend workshops, seminars, and conferences in my available time. My skills include team leadership, event/organizational planning, and communication. In the recent 2 years, I have directed and coordinated events including musical productions, and elementary school events such as dances and carnivals. I am currently developing my social media marketing skills and recently received my Hootsuite Platform Certification. The certification has enhanced my ability to manage multiple networks and profiles, as well as understanding the trends of digital marketing and how to fully optimize them.

I am an active community member and volunteer in Richmond Hill, Ontario. During the holiday season, I can be seen volunteering at Richmond Hill’s Food and spending my time tutoring students at Mathnasium, The Math Learning Center. I am interested in expanding my volunteer work globally and to one-day volunteer with ME to WE across seas.

I plan to obtain my Masters of Business Administration Degree at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, and to pursue a career related to Business Development or Strategic Operations within the Hospitality and Tourism Management sector. I hope to bring my knowledge and skills forth to one day create a non-profit hotel.
