Hello! My name is Jessica I transferred to WSU in the fall of 2012 as a junior with the intention of studying political science. Here are a few details about me,

How many People are in your family? Who are they?

I come from a somewhat big family. Growing up it was my parents and my two older sisters Elsie (the oldest child) and Noemi (the middle child). Now my sisters each have husbands and kids so our family of 5 has grown to 12. Family get-togethers used to be quiet affairs. Now that we are all grown and my both my sister's kids have been added in to the equation we all get pretty rowdy... especially around the holidays!

Why did you choose WSU?

I chose WSU because it was always my goal. I know that sounds strange but this was my top choice from the time I was in the 8th grade. GO COUGS!

What was your first day of class like?

I'm not gonna lie, I was terrified my first day of class. I got lost once, however I asked someone for directions and they helped my find my class. People here are really nice and will help you if your are lost. There is no reason to be afraid on your first day. The individuals who make up the WSU community are really like one big family and take care of each other!

What is your fondest WSU memory thus far?

My fondest WSU memory so far would be meeting an English women who had never had "pop rocks". Upon hearing this I ran to my room where I coincidentally had pop rocks and made her eat some! Her reaction to the candy was priceless! I spent the rest of the semester finding candies that she had never heard of and having her try them, it was awesome!

What advice do you have for new Cougar parent

Realize that those everyday phone csalls home will dwindle down to every couple of days to once a week or once a month. Although this is a sad occurrence it is a good step forward for your child, it means they are exercising their independence and becoming adults.
