Jessica Drakett

Leeds, UK

I am a PhD researcher in psychology at Leeds Beckett University, based in the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences. I have a BSc in psychology from Sheffield Hallam University, though prior to starting my PhD research I worked as a software engineer for a company providing clinical software to the NHS and other organisations.

Broadly speaking, my research interests span discourse, feminism and work. Less broadly speaking I’m interested in humour (specifically Internet memes) and how this may impact on the experiences of women working in technology.

During term time, I also teach on the undergraduate psychology program at Leeds Beckett University. I have experience teaching qualitative and quantitative research methods, statistics, and social psychology.

Outside of research and teaching, I enjoy photography, crafting and tinkering with code. Oh, and bottomless cups of tea.
