Jessica Metcalf

Grounded by an understanding of the relationship between mind, body and environment, I conceptualize mental health as a state of balance and awareness and am inspired by the metaphors of the natural environment and the physical body as they relate to they ways we think and, in turn, express ourselves in the world.
The practice of mindfulness is a way to deepen this awareness and achieve better balance, and it is woven into my practice as a psychologist. In other places, it is expressed in my roles as yoga instructor, wilderness trip leader and mother. Awareness and thoughtful integration of my interests and abilities come together to create a holistic experience that is intended to have a positive and helpful effect that may ripple out into the world.
