Jessie Opoien

I'm report on state government and politics for the Capital Times, in Madison, Wis. I am an Iowan-Wisconsinite hybrid, and a lover of music, politics, cheese and bacon. And writing, of course. I play the piano and banjo, and have been known to answer to "Banjo Girl."

I was the 2010-2011 editor-in-chief of the Iowa State Daily, and I interned with CNN's Money Unit, Isthmus, the Center for Media and Democracy and the Des Moines Register. I most recently worked as a reporter for the Oshkosh Northwestern in Oshkosh, Wis.
