Jessa Marie

Photographer, Graphic Artist, and Arts Practitioner in Legazpi, Albay

Jessa Pomar began her photography career in 2017 while she interned at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She was assigned to photograph the Performatura Festival (Performance Art Festival) from 2017 to 2019.

While studying for her Arts Management degree at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, she was the Graphic Artist for Ronnie Lazaro’s performance art piece “Breathless.”

Determined to navigate the art world, Jessa worked for Art Fair Philippines in 2017, 2018, and 2020. Her experience working with various artists and galleries solidified her passion for becoming an art practitioner.

As soon as she tossed her graduation cap in 2019, the 23-year-old flew back to her hometown in Albay, Legazpi, and pursued photography full-time. Jessa’s work shifts from wildlife and landscape photography, product photography, and portraits.

The Bicol-based artist describes that she presents “a collection of scenery, moments, and memories.” Jessa’s work centers on illustrating the beauty of nature, wildlife, and the community around Albay.

Her photographs of Mount Mayon (“Dapit Hapot Sa Nayon” and “Daragang Magayon”) and Vera Falls (“Talon Ng Vera”) were exhibited and sold at this year’s Art In The Park. She’s currently a consigned artist for “Unearthd,” a local artist-run community known for selling postcards. Her work has also been featured across online travel platforms such as Travel Stories Philippines, SeePilipinas, Philippine Discoveries, and Proud To Be Albayano among others.

With a camera in hand during her daily morning hike, Jessa continues to capture Legaspi’s natural wonders, radically sharing her artistic talent with the world.
