The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road - What Is Its Future?
Back in 2020, when the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road was in its infancy, a leading Chinese academic said that "The future of the world and the future of the international system are dependent on the growth of the Chinese economy." Well, even more recently in a joint post with U.S. Senator John McCain in the US Senate, the chief strategist for China, Zhang Ming, has stated that the Chinese have to produce two to three times more than they need if they are to keep up with the rapid economic development that's been evident in their country over the last ten years. As China grows, it's main competition is not only from American manufacturing but also from Asian economies.
But, while all this might be true and I think that the Chinese might be on track to successfully implement their ten-year economic plan and the implementation of the Maritime Silk Road, I do wonder whether or not they've hit the mark, especially considering the restrictions the Chines
