Jasmine Gardner

I started school in the summer of 2007 at the University of Georgia. My first two semesters, I was an excellent student but soon the college life began to catch up with me. I squandered away countless opportunities and eventually had to leave the University.

I began a new journey with the United States Army where I learned life skills that have been detrimental to my recent success. The army taught me how to cope with situations that are beyond your control and how to be resilent. When I was stationed at Ft. Sill, I soon became pregnant with my daughter Jordyn. She was conceived during a time when I was at my lowest point in life. She gave me life and a new beginning. My focus shifted back to do the right thing and I enrolled in the University of Georgia. Since I have returned, I have made deans list three semesters in a row and I will graduate with a bachelors in Criminal Justice. I believe that if it was not for my daughter, i would not be where I am today nor the person I am today.
