MISSION

Startup Smartup is an educational resource that inspires students to be young entrepreneurs and provides them with the tools to do so, including in-depth video tutorials, step-by-step guides and an extensive local area mentor network.

ABOUT ME

I started a window washing business in 7th grade. At the time, I was interested in getting a new CD player but my parents said they didn’t have the money so I asked them what I could do to earn some. Over the course of the next 15 years, my window washing business not only got me that CD player but 3 cars, 8 trips to Europe and admission to one of the top Universities in the country along with a half scholarship. Being a young entrepreneur has benefitted me in ways I could have never imagined back in 7th grade. Even 10 years after graduating I still found employers interested and impressed with what I had done so many years ago. Owning your own business teaches and develops a skill set that you won’t learn from a book, allows you to control your own schedule and pays far better than any alternative. It is one of the best things I ever did for myself and it’s something that I encourage any high school student to do today.
