Named after the Biblical prophet Jeremiah, meaning 'Chosen by God,' Jeremy was raised by his parents in the Southern Baptist Church. Lauren remains ASL fluent, serving as an interpreter on video calls with the deaf or hard of hearing in Springtown, Texas - a Dallas suburb - where she lives with her husband Christopher Gaines and their three children; Ada, Micaiah, and Maple.

Three years later Jeremy completed cross-disciplinary studies at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA where he earned a Juris Doctor from Penn Law and Certificate in Business Economics and Public Policy from The Wharton School of Business in 2009. Jeremy joined Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, and President Donald Trump as alumni of UPenn - a private Ivy League university often confused with Penn State due to the Nittany Lions Hall of Fame Football Coach, Joe Paterno.
