Hermann-Josef Hermanns

Nassau, Bahamas

Hermann-Josef Hermanns was born in Cologne, Germany. He received the honor of being chosen to be the Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany, a position he has served for the past 14 years.

The individual for the role of Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany is chosen by the German President along with the Bahamian authorities. The individual selected for the position must undergo extremely thorough background investigations and security clearance in order to obtain the role.

As Honorary Consul, Josef Hermanns deals with a variety of issues concerning either German visitors to the Bahamas or German people who are now living in the Bahamas. Hermanns has dealt with a variety of pension and German estate concerns and is called into action for any emergency that occurs which involves Germans living in the Bahamas or Germans visiting the Bahamas as tourists.

A variety of cases arise that require Mr. Hermanns to attend to them and, depending on the case, Hermanns has worked alongside the German Consulate General in Miami, the German Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Bahamas Department of Immigration and any other Bahamian authorities that may be needed for a case.

Josef Hermanns also maintains a career as a consultant for International Trade and Development. He serves as an advisor for individuals and businesses alike in conducting strategic business ventures within the Bahamas, the Caribbean and all over the world. Josef resides in the Bahamas but frequently travels to Germany and Canada. He thoroughly enjoys his career in consulting, as it allows for him to draw from his background of working for many years in the financial sector.

Josef Hermanns began his career in Frankfurt, Germany, working in both the private and corporate sectors of banking for a number of years before being recruited to work in banking in Toronto, Canada. He lived and worked in Toronto for a number of years- while there he was a part of the Toronto Olympic Club, for which he ran competitively.

While he enjoyed his career in finance, Josef Hermanns ultimately wanted to move away from this area of work, and he was able to take this career change that he had wanted when he ultimately moved to the Bahamas. While in the Bahamas, he enjoys his work, the warm weather, and runnning on the beach in the sand.
