Jayson Jaskeran
Director, Writer, and Editor in Trinidad and Tobago
Jayson Jaskeran, also known as J. H. Jaskeran (born August 18th, 2001) is a Trinidadian filmmaker and writer inspired by a diverse amalgamate of genres and experiences—from Psychological Horror and Comedy to Queer stories. Their work often highlights intimate stories of the minority groups to which they belong.
In early-2020, Jaskeran began pre-production on their debut short film, Barray, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project had to be put on hold.
Later that year, Jaskeran would become a youth Juror for the 2020 Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival and just a few months later, they would join the writing team of viral TikTok cartoon show, "The Experiences of Kairo and Crate."
In May 2021, they wrote and directed the third official Kairo and Crate clip while simultaneously organising the virtual play "Tong N' Country" as a student at the University of the West Indies.
Throughout the rest of the year, Jaskeran focused on their studies and later joined the Film Programme at the UWI and began pursuing a minor in Computer Science.
Jaskeran has a few new projects slated for 2022 such as a fresh comedy series produced in partnership with Kix Studios and the artist's own upcoming short film titled Breakout Room, which is expected to be released in April 2022.
