JH Mae

I’m going to be honest up front - JH Mae is not my real name. I am an as yet unpublished – but hopeful – writer living in the very northern US.

What I will tell you is a little bit about myself, and it is all true. I am 30 and live in the country with my husband and our Beagle. I love to travel, and do it whenever I can; read, in the hopes it will make me smarter; cook (and I’m quite good, or so my husband says); and quilt (how quaint).

I have been writing since I was able. My first grade teacher said the sentences I created to practice my handwriting were the best in the class (yeah, I’m still bragging about that). I was a professional writer for five years, but it doesn’t support a living so now I have a grown up job with benefits. Due to an ongoing “I’m turning 30-“crisis, I’ve kickstarted my writing habit and couldn’t be happier doing so. My ultimate hope is to get some short stories published, and I’m working on a novella that I’d like to self-publish.

I want writing to be my life’s accomplishment. I don’t want to be famous, I don’t want to lure a big publisher. I don’t want my stories turned into movies. If I can get a dozen strangers to read what I’ve written, and say “wow, that’s awesome!” I will be happy.
