New Orleans is home. I've tried to navigate my way out of it, move from it, and disavow it periodically, but that was because of my own shortcomings. They had nothing to do with the city.

No matter where I've lived, I return to New Orleans. It's simply in my blood, the way I talk, my life philosophy, and attitude. So finally as a writer I made the decision that I would write about her, this old harlot of a city. It is my favorite subject.
