A young dynamic graduate in Electrical Engineering from Mumbai University, Shah’s first job was as an Assistant Manager in 1990 in Bombay Stock Exchange where he learnt extensively about trading system and designing.

He quit from BSE in 1994 along with colleagues Neralla and Ghanshyam Rohira, and launched a company to provide software to capital markets, known today as Financial Technologies (India) Ltd. (FTIL).

He then went on to develop ODIN, a front-end brokerage solution for exchange transactions. Today, it holds over 80% of the market share in India and abroad.

With operations across over 500 cities and a membership of over 1000 members, the exchange has grown exponentially and was the third largest exchange in the world until recently with trading values on silver and gold being the second and third highest respectively. The cumulative income it has generated over the last ten years is about Rs. 3600Cr and holds the distinction of being the only listed exchange.FTIL has till date promoted 9 exchanges in 6 countries and the Group Companies, some of which are holding companies, are regulated by 18 central banks and regulators.
