A former healthcare professional, I left the field in 2012 to return to school full-time and pursue my dream of making a difference in the lives of others the best way I know how, through Social Work. In doing so I started a Blog, The Brain Work of an Idealist, to keep account of my journey as a returning student. Allow me to provide some insight into who I am as a person in order to better understand where I come from as a writer.

I am verbose. I realize this is ill-advised in the blogging world but I do not edit myself in life and I would feel like a phony if I did it here.

I am an idealist, an optimist and a humanist. This translates to me being able to see the potential in all people and situations, there is good in everyone and everything.

I identify as an INFP as well as an HSP. I am an introvert that dances along the line of extraversion. I am intuitive and pick up on the subtle nuances in relationships and interactions with people, however I am completely oblivious and clumsy in other aspects of my daily life. I am a feeler. I lead with my feelings in most aspects of my life and make decisions from the gut. This level of intuition mixed with an emotionally driven personality makes me highly empathetic and sensitive.

I have very decided opinions on certain topics, especially when it pertains to my value system, and am stubborn to a fault in those areas. In other aspects of my life I can be flexible and easily swayed.

I am a lover of words. When writing much of my time is consumed with searching for just the right word to express the current sentiment. In my spare time I read anything I can get my hands on, from fiction to psychology journals, and play word games for fun.
