Jillian Bruss

A singer, voice teacher, and General Manager of The Milwaukee Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jillian Bruss brings natural talent as well as years of training to her craft. Owing in part to Jillian Bruss’ experience, management skills, and education, the Milwaukee Opera Theatre has flourished since she assumed the post of General Manager in 2006.

In addition to teaching voice at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Pius XI High School, Jillian Bruss also conducts the ensemble Women of Note. Her students have achieved success on a number of different levels, winning national awards at Classical Singer High School Auditions and the Florentine High School Masterclass. Jillian Bruss’ pupils have also performed with such acclaimed vocal ensembles as Skylight Opera Theatre, A Company of Kids, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and the Florentine Opera.

Honored for her abilities since her training in Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Jillian Bruss received the “Who’s Who among Students of American Universities & Colleges” award for her exemplary undergraduate work. After completing her Bachelor’s degree, she earned a Master of Music degree with honors at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Among Jillian Bruss’ other awards are the Civic Music Association Artist Series, WGN Auditions of the Air, and the Carol Neblett award for a Dramatic Coloratura.

Aside from her current role as General Manager at The Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Jillian Bruss has also performed in main stage and outreach capacities for the Florentine Opera Company, as well as for such groups as Master Singers, Bel Canto Chorus, the Lutheran A Cappella Choir of Milwaukee, and the Waukesha Choral Society. An educator of music and a talented mezzo-soprano, Jillian Bruss has performed both opera and oratorio across the country and as far away as Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
