Jillian Goldberg

Jillian trained in Art Education at the Michaelis School of Art, University of Cape Town, South Africa. With her family she immigrated to the USA, settling in Charlotte North Carolina in 1983. She developed the Gifted and Talented Development Center at Queens University in Charlotte which she directed for over twenty years. During this time she opened and operated seven art schools in the Charlotte and Triangle areas under license to Mona Brookes, author of "Drawing with Children."

In 2002 Jillian's company was acquired by Explore in Raleigh, a new family education company. Jillian served as Vice President for Development, creating programs for the Triangle. She retired in 2005, returning to her own work after many years of teaching.

Since retiring Jillian has taught part time at area community centers, including ArtSpace, Jerry's Artarama, Cary Senior Center, Apex Community Center, Carolina Preserve and Wake Technical College Continuing Education. She created three instructional DVDs for children at Burning Oak Studios in Raleigh summer 2009. The first of the series is now available through Jerry's Artarama retail and online stores.

She continues to study art, taking classes with Dr. Harold Gregor, Marty Baird, Leslie Pruneau and Bob Burridge. Jillian serves on the Board of the Fine Arts League of Cary and is an active member of the Abstract Expressionist
group, The ChromaZones.

Jillian has been juried into many regional shows, including North Ridge Country Club Auction (2011), North Carolina Museum of Art Inaugural Auction (2011), North Carolina Museum of Art Auction (2012), Fine Arts League of Cary Annual Juried Show (2008, 2011), Cary Visual Arts Auction (2011), Cary Gallery of Artists (2009, 2010, 2011) Junior League of Raleigh (2011) and the Raleigh Fine Arts Society (2012). She has had solo shows at the Chatham Hill Winery, Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex, the Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center, Jordan Hall in Cary and elsewhere.
