Jim Swope
Jim Swope, the owner of Swope Public Relations in Palm Harbor, Florida, since 1990, has improved the visibility of clients in health care, residential and commercial real estate, visual arts, manufacturing, law, retirement living, insurance, aerospace/defense, pharmaceuticals, computers/software, banking and financial services, and non-profit/social services.
He has held communications management positions in banking and financial services, social services and with advertising and public relations agencies. He has placed stories for clients in media ranging from local newspapers and TV stations to international wire services, and in such trade publications as Aviation Week & Space Technology, Aerospace Engineering and Design News, in consumer publications such as People magazine and Popular Science, and on programs including ESPN's "Outside the Lines," and CNN's "Health Week," "Headline News" and "Science & Technology Week."
His work has involved a number of public figures, including heart transplant pioneer Christiaan Barnard, M.D., Olympic swimming legend Mark Spitz, heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman, television actress Susan Sullivan, Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of When Bad Things Happen to Good People, Academy-Award®-winning actress Olympia Dukakis, Dr. John Gray, author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, country music superstar Naomi Judd, Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson, high fashion models representing the Textile Ministry of the People's Republic of China, the Goodyear airship Spirit of Akron, and the monorail system at the Walt Disney World Resort, among others.
He received the Grand All Suncoast Golden Image Award from the Florida Public Relations Association recognizing the best public relations program in Tampa Bay, and is a past president of the organization's Tampa Bay Chapter.
