Jim D. Thomas is the Vice President and CTO of Enterprise Technology at City of Hope National Cancer Institute leading teams in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) focused on strategy, planning and delivery. Since joining COH in 2017, Jim has focused on “modernizing the workplace” to enable users and capabilities across end-user services, data center, storage, network, telephony and IT service management. City of Hope IT is in the process of upgrading a majority of their systems and services to include Epic EMR/EHR, Windows 10, Office 365 with Exchange in the Cloud, Unified Communications, Desktop Refresh/VDI and a modernized data center with Dell, Cisco and Palo Alto at its core. In addition, Jim leads the Cyber Security Operations team to ensure that the organization's staff, policies, processes, practices, and technologies proactively protect, shield, and defend the enterprise from cyber threats.Jim has spent nearly 25 years leading teams in the delivery of valued solutions and services. Prior to City of Hope, Jim led Service Management Strategy and Operations for Kaiser Permanente and Optum Health Services/UnitedHealth Group and previously served in an executive leadership role as co-founder with Go Smart, Inc., a start-up software and services company focused on delivering hosted CRM and managed service solutions to financial organizations based in the real estate and mortgage industries.City of Hope is a private, not-for-profit clinical research center, hospital and graduate medical school located in Duarte, California, United States. The center's main campus resides on 110 acres of land adjacent to the boundaries of Duarte and Irwindale, with a network of clinical practice locations throughout Southern California, satellite offices in Monrovia and Irwindale, and regional fundraising offices throughout the United States.
