Jim Jansen

Newcastle, WA

Jim Jansen is a highly experienced career musician with skills in strings, piano, keyboards, and voice. His primary emphasis has been church music, but he has also been a freelance private music instructor for many years.

Jim has been active in community music ensembles including the Rainier Symphony where he is playing Violin I for his eighth season. He has also sung baritone with the Kirkland Choral Society. He has taught music at Northwest University, Master's College, and Golden Gate Seminary. As an ordained worship pastor, he has also been frequently requested to play for weddings, funerals, and special occasions.

Jim teaches elementary through adult students, of all ability levels. He has taught strings for many years, both violin and viola, in the Suzuki system. He also teaches piano students, primarily using the Faber piano method, through all five levels. Besides insisting on proper techniques and skills, he also tries to use song styles that his students will especially enjoy. His approach is positive and encouraging, and his students are both challenged and inspired in the joy of music. Several of his students have gone on to study music in college and beyond.

Mr. Jansen holds music degrees in violin performance and choral conducting. He coordinated a school of music for a private elementary school in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles for several years.

He happily provides references.
