Jim Niemiec
Jim Niemiec is Vice President of Global Categories for Hewlett-Packard’s Global Procurement organization. In this role, Jim leads the worldwide sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and supplier management for most of HP’s multi-billion dollar indirect spend.
Jim joined HP in October 2010 as a widely-recognized expert and thought leader in procurement, supply chain management, and operations improvement. Prior to HP, he served as VP of Global Sourcing for MGM Resorts International, leading procurement activities worldwide for MGM’s approximately 30 hotels-casinos,and other developments. Previously, Jim was a management consultant in McKinsey & Company’s Los Angeles office, leading a number of media, entertainment, and technology companies through large-scale procurement, supply chain, and operations transformations. He also served five years as a U.S. Army intelligence officer, leading counterintelligence and interrogation operations in support of U.S. Central Command.
Jim possesses Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration degrees from Stanford Law School and Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in American Political Science and Economics.
