I've reported -- mainly for the Washington Post, Newsday and Bloomberg News -- from more than 70 countries over 30 years.

I was astonished to first meet the Muslim world as a Peace Corps teacher in Morocco, and I've continued to focus on it as a journalist. I've lived in South and Central Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union, focusing often on the tormented relationships between Islamic lands and the largely Christian nations that once colonized them.
