My excuse for not being too successful in hardcore academic subjects is that I tend to look beyond the normal, textbook, prima facie picture, meaning at the less obvious, trending and systemic, or cause and effect aspect of things, some mundane, some really far out and sometimes quite mad. Yep.

My ambition can only be described as imaginative, and although I successfully dealt with anger issues in my early teens, I was left with a rather damp mien, which I like to disguise as a leadership quality, ie a good listener, though please don't let me get excited about an idea, as you won't be able to get a word in. At all.

I am originally an artistic person, doodling, painting and attempting some sculpture (really boring and you need tools). Somehow I ended up studying Marketing with some Accounting and something called Operations Research (don't ask! ) and after undergrad, ended up in Shipping and Logistics after the bottom fell out of advertising in the 1990s (born at the wrong time, you see).

A dozen years later am trying my hand at Consulting, again at the wrong time when tight-fistedness rules and my good listener face is not helping keep a wedge in the door. Along the way I somehow managed to use my weekends acquiring an MBA, co-created two wonderful kids and am still looking for for the chap who showed me how to hold a golf club properly, so I can thank and curse him at the same time.

Am interested in ending poverty (Yes, mad but good) using naturally acquired skills and an understanding of how to do business in Africa, a lot of which is how to get a good return without having to bribe.

I seem to be able to convince customers that the business I run gives the best service (yet to get this right in Consulting), but my claim to fame is in my ability to inspire staff and colleagues to become dreamers, not necessarily with an unlikely outcome. If you don't get that, please call me, my fees are workable..

If my dreams come true I will end up being the most normal, well adjusted person with the biggest ever achievement on this earth, something similar to what reality show business has achieved - a lot with nothing.
