I am happily retired enjoying my continuous vacation immensely. Although I never worked in IT, I did introduce computer technology into the various departments I worked in including: establishing an Apple IIe based company-wide BBS (pre-WWW), designing a VAX based record keeping system, developing / hosting the first intranet page for my department, designing / coding a dBase III / FoxPro database which saved $50K+ in contract administration costs, and introducing decentralized word processing utilizing an Apple IIe. A proprietary, company application needed some critical code changes. Unfortunately the developer had left the company, and documentation was not available. I reverse engineered the application, made the critical changes, and developed a user friendly front-end to allow other company employees, both local and country wide, to make anticipated future changes without any programming / code knowledge. Time has passed since I accomplished the described tasks. However, the drive, passion, skills, and innovativeness to identify current / potential problems and to implement technological solutions to prevent / solve them is still as sharp and focused as ever along with a keen eye for streamlining processes. I still regularly follow tech advancements from various sources, and regularly attend tech meetings which fortunately are plentiful in Boston.
Mobile devices have always piqued my interest since the old Casio / Sharp organizers. I was a huge Window Mobile fan before Microsoft abandoned the power user. Since iOS loosened its "walled garden" somewhat since iOS 8, I do use the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch; however, Android is my preferred mobile platform. I have multiple Android tablets / smartphones / phablets in my tool chest. Also enjoy the the Microsoft Surface tablets. I am proof that, "the only difference between a man, and a boy is the price of his toys", is definitely true.
Other passions include movies, and classic cars. The 427 Cobra is my favorite drool worthy dream car, and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the 409, 421 Super Duty, 426 Hemi, Ford 427OHC, and the Buick Skylark Gran Sport. A 65 Skylark Gran Sport convertible with a factory 4 speed manual was my first new car.
Although not looking for a full time job, a "too good to refuse" offer would receive serious consideration.
