Jim Vota

Pittsburgh, PA

I am an instructor of journalism and media arts at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. There I teach classes in photography, media and production management, along with static and kinetic design.

Outside of Duquesne University, I am the Editor of Outland Moto, a digital media environment for adventure travel enthusiasts.

My history is in media production management for photography and documentary film. I have acted as producer and director on various travel documentaries. These roals have included grant writing, story and script development, crew/team development and management, and production logistics.

In 2010, I was selected as one of Pittsburgh's "Top 40 Under 40" professionals by Pittsburgh Magazine, for my work in documentary production.

The outdoors is where my heart is. And I leave the city to connect with the natural world as often as I can. I travel on the ground whenever possible. It is the in between points of a journey that make it magical, not the destination.
