A former professor once told me that everyone is a geek of something. I'm an IT geek and a music geek. By day, I work in IT being a jack of all trades in a group that supports researchers at a university. By night...well, I'm not a musician...though sometimes I am.

I want to always be learning. I want to know more tomorrow than I did today. Or to lift a line from Jacob's Ladder, "All I want from tomorrow is to get it better than today."

I've had a strange professional career. I learned a lot fast. I burnt myself out in under 9 years of IT. I went into my family's business. I opened my own business. I redeemed myself and went back to academia. It feels like home. Though truth be told, as long as I'm somewhere where I'm learning new things and staying occupied, I could possibly be comfortable in many places.
