I am a passionate educator and one of the founding faciliators of the Swift House Team at Williston Central School. This multi-age (5th - 8th) team integrates personal learning, project-based and authentic experiences, student-led portfolio conferences, evolving technology, flexible teaming, families as partners, and many interns from area colleges. With this base, I assumed a new role in July of 2013 with Vermont-NEA, where I have the privilege of working with and supporting Vermont educators. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and completed my Doctorate in Education at the University of Vermont. My dissertation looked at the impact of Student Learning Objectives on teaching and learning. Using grounded theory, I developed a theory looking at the dimensions of school implementation of SLOs that support the process, resulting in both improved teaching and accountability.
