J.L. Schmidt

JL Schmidt is the Executive Director of Heritage Nebraska, a statewide not-for-profit citizens organization that advocates and promotes heritage in order to build stronger communities and maintain the essential character of the state. Heritage Nebraska is a member of the Statewide and Local Partners of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Before helping to create Heritage Nebraska, Schmidt was:

• Director of the Nebraska Main Street Program, affiliated with the National Trust Main Street Center.

• Assistant to the Director of the State of Nebraska Department of Administrative Services.

• A government and politics reporter for state and national news organizations.
