Jorge Marme

Jorge Marme is a Visual Artist born on October 13, 1989 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico , and has lived in Tijuana all his life.

Ever since he was a child he felt a fascination for the imaginary worlds he saw in movies, books or pictured while listening music.

He is part of a family of artists , his father being also a visual artist, he was surrounded by an environment that fostered creativity and maintained the habit of drawing since childhood , stablishing a conscious rivalry with his father , refusing to draw or paint the same things that his father did (generally realistic landscapes and portraits ) . Which led him to draw the complete opposity, being generally imaginary worlds and the creatures that inhabited them.

From the young age of 5, he was determined that when he grew old he would be a Design Engineer since his other passion ( like many other children from the 90's) were video games and someone told him that if he wanted to make videogames, he would have to study that.

At 17 years old , his skills had improved considerably , focusing mostly on animation and digital media for artistic creation .

When the time finally came to choose a profession , he found out that the career he planned to study his whole life , was less focused on visuals than he thought and more focused in coding ( something he had little ability and interest in) , so his life plan came to a halt. .

A friend of his told him of the existence of a School of Visual Arts in Playas de Tijuana called "Escuela Superior de Artes Visuales" (ESAV) and encouraged him to visit the place. He began his studies in 2008 and graduated with honors in 2012.

There he explored mainly through more traditional means , discovering that he enjoyed immensely working chaotically smearing on the fly and making room for spontaneity in the creative process , contrasting his creative process for digital media back then and combining both forms of work successfully today.

He is currently a teacher at his old school ESAV where he has taught the subjects of Drawing , Experimentation, Theory of Art, Aesthetics and History of Contemporary Art , he also works carrying out different freelance jobs, like logo design, paintings, tattoo designs, animation, photo editing and more visual art related material.
