Greetings,
Life has a funny way of pulling you into crazy situations, balling you up, throwing you around, and pushing you out as a new person. I like to call that "God's Plan". A few years ago, after i started college, i had a crash course in God's Plan. So many times do we think we know exactly what will happen in our life. One of my favorite quotes is "if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans". I got to college with hopes of being a math education major, but like God intended those plans changed. I became a math education major, a music education major, an elementary education major, AND FINALLY a family and consumer science major!! Alll the obstacles i faced; bullied, denied by my peers, depressed, without my own place to live, without food, no transportation, alone... All led me to my believed "calling". I think God's plan for me was to experiencce the struggles that many people face and push me into the direction where i can help those people get on their feet. I would say the most successful people arent the ones who have all the money in the world, but are the people who have seen all that the world has to offer. Having an open mind, independence, a relationship with God, supportive family and friends, and the decency to show others respect are qualities that i didnt have at first, but struggling through life's lessons has taught me ( and im still learning) what REALLY is valued in life. I think having a positive outlook on life is the best way to directly and even indirectly influence others; a kind statement, a simple smile, or just acknowledging someones presence. I havent gotten everything figured out yet, but thats part of life.... you live and you learn.
