João Miguel Fernandes is a member of the Dep. Informatics at UMinho since 1991, currently with the full professor status. He has been an invited researcher/professor at UBristol (UK, 1991), TUCS (Finland, 2002-03), ISCTAM (Mozambique, 2003), Aarhus U (2006-07), UFSC (Brazil, 2013).
He is the author/editor of more than 100 scientific publications with peer revision on international conferences, journals and chapters of books. He is co-editor of the book "Behavioral Modeling for Embedded Systems and Technologies: Applications for Design and Implementation" (IGI Global, 2009).
He conducts his research activities in Software Engineering, with a special interest in the following topics: Software Modeling, Requirements Engineering, Embedded Software, Software Process, History of Computing. Within his research and teaching activities, he has maintained/maintains regular collaborations with the industry.
He is currently finishing a book about requirements engineering to support university-level courses.
