Juan Manuel Gentili

Hi! My Name is Juan Manuel. I’m 26 years old, and I’m a Software Engineer and iOS developer currently living in Argentina (with Italian citizenship).

Right now, I'm performing as a Senior iOS Developer for Venmo/PayPal.

I started my professional journey in the development world in 2018, in the last year before graduating as a Software Engineer. My first steps were in mobile with cross-platform technologies such as Xamarin and React Native. But then I got a job as an iOS developer and started working with Swift, and I fell in love with the language and the ecosystem. Since then, I spend most of my working life trying to increase and apply my knowledge to develop in Apple platforms. I had real world experiences with Objective-C, Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, several mobile architectural patterns, Combine, Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods and more.

On the other hand, working for a high-impact product is something very important to me, because it allows me to clearly see that my day-to-day work translates into meeting people’s needs and changing lives. I’m quite interested in topics such as fintech, democratization of finance, crypto/web3, environment, physical and mental health, productivity, reading, fitness, UX/UI, science and more. I try to apply my technical knowledge on full-time, freelancer jobs and open-source contributions that are aligned with those interests.

Among my personal qualities stand out: curiosity, commitment, dedication and passion for what I do.

Finally, my free time is spent on side projects, reading, running, going to the gym, hanging out with people, or trying to plan a nice trip to expand my knowledge of what is around me.
