Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Hurt has played the trumpet since the age of 12. He started his trumpet studies with George Rawlin while in high school and then at Kennesaw State University under the tutelage of Mark Hughes (Houston Symphony). While in college, Michael joined the Cobb Symphony Orchestra and is a current member to this day. After his university days he spent two years working aboard the luxury cruise liner Crystal Symphony, traveling to over 60 countries while performing with Broadway, West End, and award winning singers and dancers. Michael is a repair technician at Rich Ita's Brass Instrument Workshop in Marietta, GA with over 10 years of experience in brass instrument repair and restoration. Michael is also an active teacher and freelance trumpet performer in and around the Atlanta area.
