James Mullighan

A Board Member of Encounters Festivals, he is currently Chief Executive Officer of Transmedia Next; Festivals and Awards Strategist for HBO Europe; a juror, ambassador, and UK and Australian liaison for Cinelan; Producer of Marketing and Distribution for the Sleep Paralysis Project; and Contributing Editor for Cinovate and Rich Pickings. In 2011 he directed the 65th Edinburgh International Film Festival. Prior to that, James was Creative Director of Shooting People and, before that, the producer of RESFEST’s UK, Irish and Australian tours. James is also an arts journalist (Rolling Stone, GQ, Scotsman, The Age) and former music industry executive (Sony Classical and Columbia, Australia).

James is a juror for Soho Rushes, the Depict! Awards, the London Short Film Festival, Virgin Media Shorts, Friends of the Earth’s Green Film Competition, and the Vimeo Festival and Awards 2012. James sits on the board of the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival,is an advisor to the boards of the Sheffield Doc/Fest, London Short Film, Branchage International Film and Abandon Normal Devices festivals, and is a Trustee of Dramatic Need.
