Joana Correia
I studied architecture at FAUP and worked as an architect in Spain and Portugal. In 2008 I went back to Porto to study Communication Design at ESAD (esad.pt).
After graduating I went to live in the UK to attend the MA Typeface Design at the University of Reading. I graduated from this program in 2011 with Merit. I was very fortuned to meet and be taught by amazing teachers and designers, such as Gerry Leonidas, Fiona Ross and Gerard Unger.
I am currently living in Porto (Portugal) working as a freelance type designer and teaching Typographic Studies at ESAD. My interests are in the visual culture, from typography, type design, graphic design and architecture.
In Porto, I like to go downtown and explore the antique bookshops, take pictures of old signs, read a book in a coffee house, and eat good food.
