I'm from Portugal. I've lived several years in Coimbra where I have attended university to attain my bachelor's degree in Art Studies. I work as a producer and assistant producer in different fields and for different companies [see below my professional backstory].
The main focus of the undergraduate program of study in visual and performance arts was to provide students a broad-based cultural knowledge about the history and evolution of humankind combined with the history, analysis and theory of arts, namely in the fields of music, theatre, cinema, photography, new media and their various intersections.
I've also took extra classes in different subjects that interested me — Poetics & Creative Writing and North American Literature. I went to several courses and workshops so I could have a better understanding of the practices and craftsmanship involved in the creative and artistic process in general.
This allowed me to have a greater perspective of our cultural, social and political realities, but also allowed me to develop my own critical thinking about arts in specific and have the proper set of skills to be able to work in a professional environment in a most efficient, innovative and autonomous way possible.
My academic and professional interests are working, mainly, in cultural management and programming, production for theatre and writing, but I would also consider a path in arts education, photography, cultural journalism and/or research. My main research interests are Post-dramatic theatre/postmodern theatre, the theatre of Samuel Beckett and Sarah Kane, the history of visual arts and performing arts in Portugal, actor's method and training, comedy, theatre and performance theories, contemporary art, Anglo-American Literature & Cinema, emerging writers and playwrights and Interart Studies.
