Joanice Thompson is a Community Engagement & Collaboration Consultant, realtor, and the Executive Director of ACT. ACT is a community development consulting firm that seeks to facilitate the building and empowerment of Alabama communities from within, bringing together and obtaining input from all community stakeholders to identify key issues, address priorities, and focus on solutions, beginning with the premise that agreeing to working together, and thereby building trust, is the first step on the journey to achieve viable and sustainable communities. We believe that our communities are strengthened by shared insight, perspectives, and wisdom. We seek to facilitate the sharing and blending of knowledge, innovation, and energetic ideas with an eye on the mutual goal of making our communities, and ultimately the world, a better place to live.

ACT seeks to transform Alabama communities and thereby improve the quality of life of Alabamians living and working in fragile communities across the state by fostering collaboration and partnerships among Alabama community stakeholders to close educational, employment, housing, and other gaps in economic and upward mobility.

OUR EXPERTISE
Joanice's experience includes establishing Community Advisory Boards; securing community support from agencies, corporation, and local governments; and service on national and local committees focused on building healthy and viable under-served communities.
She has served on the National Collaborative for Health Equity, National Cities for Life, Alabama Black Mayors Association, Alabama Governors Black Belt Action Committees; Deep South Network for Cancer Control Community Partners Committee; Alabama Partnership for Cancer Control Committee; Mayor’s Healthy Birmingham Task Force; Building Healthy Communities Coalitions; and Bethesda Life Center Board; City of Birmingham Revitalization Committee, to name a few.
