Creative Advertising Student @ Seneca College and aspiring Account Management professional
I, like many other potential ad students, fell victim to the Mad Men ideology of advertising before becoming a part of the industry. The men in suits, office drama, drinking a glass or two on the job, the excitement of a new pitch – it all looked and sounded exciting. Although it may have been enticing at the time, I can look back at watching several episodes of the show and realize that there were two aspects of reality that drew me in. Pitching new business and building client relationships. Ok, and MAYBE the fact that you can get all dolled up to present to a client. A woman’s lipstick colour is half the confidence battle, right?
Every day in this constantly changing industry is a learning curve. There are endless ways to absorb information and the utmost creative ways to deliver solutions. At the end of the day I can consider myself an account service personnel, but there is never lack of creativity in my imagination.
I thrive for the excitement of team collaboration, the pre-pitch jitters, post-pitch high, and ultimately that final handshake with the client where the goal of success has been achieved with their brand.
Bring it on ad world, I’m ready for you!
