My name is Joanna Staron. I am a senior at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, Illinois. Next year, I plan on attending IUPUI, majoring in accounting and minoring in marketing. I hope to study abroad in one of the five years I will be attending. After graduation, I hope to be able to travel around the world. Family and friends play a huge role in my life as well as music, traveling, nature, and fitness.

Friends and family are the most important people in my life. They have supported me through all my decisions and have stuck with me through everything. Knowing I will always have someone to catch me when I fall helps me to take risks in life. Family has taught me sacrifice. Friends have taught me trust. The people in my life are the reason I am who I am today.

I love to travel. Going on adventures and seeing new things is the most exciting thing to me. I am grateful I have been able to visit five countries outside of the United States, and seven other states. I love to experience the ways others live their lives and share cultures and languages.

I have been a part of the lacrosse team for all four years of my high school experience. It has taught me dedication, team work, leadership, and many other characteristics I didn’t know I had. Lacrosse was the reason I became interested in fitness. It allowed me to get away from everything and focus on myself. At Nazareth, I am a member of many clubs allowing me to meet new people and become involved in my school.

My whole life, I have been interested in music. It is so easy to connect with it because of all the different genres and what the meaning of the lyrics is. In fourth grade I joined the band program as a flute player and have been playing ever since. To me, listening to music can bring out any emotion.
