Joanne Lee
Joanne Lee has amassed several accomplishments since joining the firm in 2004. For instance, she assisted an original equipment manufacturer tier 1 supplier with Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings by confirming the reorganization plan and arguing against an eleventh-hour objection. At Foley & Lardner LLP, Joanne Lee also acted as second chair for a Chapter 11 case worth several billion dollars; she and her colleagues successfully negotiated a $24 million preference action.
As further evidence of her legal ability, Ms. Lee worked as a Summer Associate for Foley & Lardner; upon impressing her superiors in the summer of 2003, she was asked to join the firm full-time. In her capacity as Summer Associate, Joanne Lee supplemented the skills she acquired in law school by completing seminars and workshops on legal writing, trial advocacy, ethics, and more. Additionally, she assisted the attorneys by drafting court motions, briefs, and memoranda, and she attended hearings to cement her knowledge of the process.
Before joining her current employer, Joanne Lee began to lay the foundation for her future success at Highland Park, Illinois-based Cheng, Cho & Yee, PC, where she fulfilled the duties of Law Clerk from 2000 to 2001. Ms. Lee also acted as a Legal Extern with Swedish Covenant Hospital, a role that required her to conduct in-depth case evaluations for malpractice suits, write employment agreements, and analyze the hospital's insurance policy.
Aside from her legal career, Joanne Lee has served as a research assistant, writer, and customer service representative. When not working, Ms. Lee takes pleasure in a number of hobbies, including reading science fiction; singing; and playing the piano, violin, and guitar.
