Joann McPike

Joann McPike spent many years traveling the world with her family, photographing the world. The experiences she gained during these travels lead her to found the THINK Global School, an innovative private, nonprofit high school that takes its students around the globe over their four years of education.

Joann McPike founded THINK Global School in 2010 after noticing the marked difference between her son, who had visited 73 countries throughout his life, and other children and teenagers. His increased comfort with a number of subjects and broad depth of knowledge, combined with an inability to find a high school that could offer him further opportunities, led McPike and her husband to develop the concept of THINK Global School.

Students at Joann McPike's THINK Global School travel to 12 cities in 12 countries around the world during their 4 years of study. They remain at each location for three months, learning from a selection of highly skilled teachers, experts, and guides in each country. By interacting with other cultures at a young age, THINK Global students develop a broad understanding of other languages and other ways of thinking. So far, McPike's THINK Global students have visited Stockholm, Sweden; Beijing, China; and Sydney, Australia; with Chiang Mai, Thailand; Berlin, Germany; and Cuenca, Ecuador; on the schedule for 2011-2012.

Joann McPike currently lives in the Bahamas with her family. Over her life, she has lived in seven countries and visited and photographed dozens more. She has visited 80 of Life Magazine's 100 places to see in a lifetime. McPike also authored THINK, a coffee table book featuring photos from her travels around the world.
